Index of Monsters

Greetings fellow Adventurer!

The land of Rodozem is full of ancient magic and mystery. Centuries-old forests are populated by fey creatures that play their strange and devious games with the common folk. Vile monsters and cursed beings haunt the dark corners of both bustling and ruined settlements, preying upon the populace and trying to spread chaos and corruption—or to share their own torment.

The fields, rivers, lakes, and deep caverns are home to spirits of various origins. Tales spread far and wide of beings that possess immense power but often mingle with ordinary folk, unbeknownst to them. If one were to look closer, past what lays on the surface, another world would unfolds before their eyes, where the strange lady that lives on the edge of the forest is actually an ancient witch with mysterious origins;

the neighbor’s well-trained and unusually smart dog is actually a curious fey spirit; or the pretty woman at the party is runaway fey royalty who just wants to have fun. It’s a world of veiled wonder, waiting for brave and clever adventurers to uncover it. It’s a world where fairytales come to life and life often feels like a fairytale—though sometimes a dark one, with no guarantee of a “happily ever after.”

Avir

The аvir are deathless sentinels bound in eternal servitude to guard ancient tombs, crypts, or sacred reliquaries. In life, the аvir were ardent servants devoted to a cause - be it a righteous or a nefarious one, vowing to serve it even in death. Their oath enables their essence, channeled through a magical symbol, to remain eternally on the mortal plane as guardians.

An avir cannot be stopped by ordinary means, only delayed. Their burning oath, sworn in life, brings them back time and time again, reassembling their remains until their task is completed. Once the threat has been dealt with, the avir return to rest, continuing on with their timeless vigil.

Dvorkin

These fey spirits are born in the wild, though it isn’t uncommon for some to migrate to humanoid societies, often unnoticed due to their magical animal guise. A dvorkin has a small but lithe furry body, and its attitude resembles that of a child. It is usually friendly toward others, especially if they display kindness. If a creature is hostile toward the dvorkin, it returns the favor in its own wild fey fashion.

Dvorkins may bond with a house’s owners if treated kindly, protecting their abodes and families. The dvorkin has extraordinarily sharp senses, surpassing most humanoids in sensitivity and acuteness. They can even peer beyond the natural veil, keeping clueless humanoids safe from the supernatural.

Leshy

An ancient fey spirit and the very embodiment of a forest, the leshy possesses old and powerful magic derived straight from the endless life force of the Great Cycle. The leshy views its duty as guardian of the forest with utter responsibility, pride and joy, and forest travelers must be mindful of its presence, as the shepherd of the woodland watches each and every footstep. It is an unpredictable creature of impulse and chaos, a sentient aspect of nature itself - evershifting and multifaceted. It can take any shape and form, from a tiny critter to the tallest of trees.

One would imagine that such a wise and eternal creature would be completely beyond mortal understanding. However, simple pleasures are not unfamiliar to the leshy. It might be bathing under the warm summer sun, enjoying the light breeze on its fur, having a round

of drinks and singing with satyrs or chasing squirrels around ceaselessly. Many people tell tales of gambling with peculiar folk in the deep forests and winning strange magical fruit, believing they have just met a leshy.
